Veterans Day lunch set for Nov. 9

The Orchard Park Senior Center, 70 Linwood Ave., offers many programs for people older than 55. Contact the center at 662-6452 to register for programs. The Senior Center director is Debbie Santiago.

Weekly events include bridge at 12:30 p.m. Mondays; mind aerobics at 1 p.m. Mondays; bingo at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; popcorn and a movie at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; knitting at 1 p.m. Thursdays; and pinochle at 1 p.m. Fridays.

Veterans Day luncheon — At noon Friday, Nov. 9, the center will honor all veterans. A free lunch will be served, and entertainment will be provided by Tom Hastings. Space is limited; call 662-6452 to register.

HIICAP Clinic — At 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, a representative from the Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program will provide information and assistance regarding Medicare, Medicare Supplemental, long-term care, managed care and other insurance options. Register in the office.

Intermediate tap dance — will be held at 10 a.m. Thursdays from now through Dec. 13. The cost of the five-week session is $19.

Men’s fitness — will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from now through Dec. 13. The cost of the 10-week session is $40.

Sketch class — will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesdays from now through Nov. 28. The cost of the six-week session is $25.

Acrylic painting — will be held at 10:15 a.m. Mondays from now through Dec. 10. The cost of the six-week session is $25.

Advanced tai chi — will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesdays through Dec. 19.

Tap dancing for fun— will be held at noon Tuesdays from now through Nov. 27. The cost of the four-week session is $15.

Mind aerobics will be held at 1 p.m. Mondays. There is no cost for the brain-teaser activity.

Bingo will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Boards for the hourlong program are $1.

Mahjong will be held at 1 p.m. Fridays.

The meal calendar is as follows: Nov. 12, Center closed for Veterans Day; Nov. 13, meatballs; Nov. 14, breaded chicken drumsticks; Nov. 15, Julienne salad.
