Jolls House to hold open house

The Orchard Park Historical Society will host a tour of the Jolls House Museum from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Tour groups, seniors and school and Scout groups are welcome. Call 662-2185 to arrange a private tour.

Park to screen ‘Lion King’

The Disney classic “The Lion King” will be screened from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Chestnut Ridge Park. This is part of the free outdoor movie series at the park. The outdoor screenings at Chestnut Ridge are sponsored by Polymer Conversions, University Pediatric Dentistry and Arthur’s.

Festival of the Arts slated for weekend

The Orchard Park Festival of the Arts will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, on the Orchard Park Middle School campus, 60 S. Lincoln Ave. More than 150 artists and crafters will be featured. The festival will also include the OP Musical Experience on Saturday, with performances from Ron Hawkins, Carina and the Six-String Preacher, Molly Conrad and Carly Beth. Market to continue through Oct. 4

BlueCross BlueShield of WNY is holding the third season of the Orchard Park farmers and artisans market from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursdays until Oct. 4 in front of Orchard Fresh, 4050 N. Buffalo Road. Each week, the market will feature 18 vendors, made up of a mix of local farmers and artisans; two food trucks; and live music from 4 to 6 p.m. The music is sponsored by Envision Real Estate and Premium Mortgage.

McMurray to attend Sept. 13 meeting

Nate McMurray, the Democratic candidate in the congressional race for New York’s 27th District, will attend the next meeting of Left, Right and Center, a political discussion group. The group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 S. Buffalo St. Interested parties can sign up for the meeting by visiting www.meetup.com or by email. OPPC to hold community meal

The Orchard Park Presbyterian Church’s Mission Ministry Team will host a community meal, “Peace, Love and Food,” on the third Thursday of each month beginning Thursday, Sept. 20, at the church, 4369 S. Buffalo St. Attendees will be welcomed into the fellowship hall at 5 p.m. The meal will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 with time for dessert and conversation until 7. There is no cost, but donations are welcome. The meal will feature chicken, mashed potatoes, carrots, salad, bread and cookie bars. Reservations are not necessary but encouraged. Call 662-9348.

Depot to host Peanut Express

The Western New York Railway Historical Society will host the Peanut Express, a vintage “Railmaster” park train from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, and Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Orchard Park Railroad Depot, 395 S. Lincoln Ave. Visitors may view the train in operation, and if they qualify as a “peanut,” they can ride the train. Only children between 30 and 52 inches tall and weighing no more than 75 pounds will be able to ride the train. Tickets are $3 per rider, per trip. Proceeds from the event will benefit the depot’s restoration. The train will not run in rainy weather.
