Headlight stop leads to marijuana charge

Tuesday, July 3

• An industrial accident occurred at a California Road business. A press machine injured a man’s right hand. He was sent to the Erie County Medical Center.

• A vehicle was stopped on Chestnut Ridge Road for having a loud muffler. The driver, a Buffalo man, did not have a license. He also had a child in the front seat who was not in a car seat. Officers found that the license was suspended. He was charged with having a loud muffler, unlicensed operator, driving out of restriction, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, no insurance and having a child in the front seat without the appropriate seating device.

Wednesday, July 4

• Two unlocked vehicles in the driveway of an Aaron Trail residence were entered and ransacked. Nothing was taken.

• Around $5 in change was taken from an unlocked vehicle on Alexander Way.

• Two unlocked cars inside an unlocked garage on Alexander Way had items taken from them. Gift cards worth $200 and $5 in change were stolen.

• Five unlocked cars were entered at a residence on Alexander Way. Around $15 in change was taken in total from the five cars.

• Sunglasses and change were taken from a vehicle on Hilltowne Drive. The vehicle was locked, but the windows were rolled down. The total value of the items is $203.

• Three unlocked vehicles were entered at a residence on Hilltowne Drive. Around $70 in cash was taken.

• An unlocked vehicle on Hilltowne Drive was entered, but nothing was taken.

• A vehicle on Hilltowne Drive, believed to be unlocked, was entered. Sunglasses and a phone charger were taken.

Thursday, July 5

• A vehicle was stopped on Abbott Road near Brookview Terrace for having one working headlight. The passenger in the vehicle, a Lackawanna man, allegedly had an open bottle of Blue Light in his possession, which he was trying to hide from the officers. Officers also smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The man gave the officers a bag of marijuana. He was charged with having an open container of alcohol and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Friday, July 6

• A skid-steer from an Abbott Road business was damaged. The windshield was smashed in the parking lot of an Abbott Road elementary school. The damage estimate is $2,500 to $3,000.

Saturday, July 7

• A vehicle was stopped for speeding on Lake Avenue. The driver, a Hamburg woman, had a suspended license. She was charged with speeding and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.
