Strawberry Social set for June 15

The Orchard Park Senior Center, 70 Linwood Ave., offers many programs for people older than 55. Contact the center at 662-6452 to register for programs. The Senior Center director is Debbie Santiago.

Weekly events include bridge at 12:30 p.m. Mondays; mind aerobics at 1 p.m. Mondays; bingo at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; popcorn and a movie at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; knitting at 1 p.m. Thursdays; and pinochle at 1 p.m. Fridays.

“In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote — At 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, come to the center for a discussion of true crime writing, sponsored by Humanities New York. Using noteworthy examples of true crime writing, attendees will delve into the history and literature of American crimes to explore themes, history and current media, as well as individual insights based on the opinions and experiences of attendees. Linda Drajem, writer, teacher and docent, will lead the discussion. The talk is limited to 15 participants. Register and pick up your book in the office.

Strawberry Social — At 1 p.m. Friday, June 15, enjoy songs from Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin performed by Mike Nugent. Following the entertainment, enjoy a strawberry dessert. The cost is $3. Register and pay in the office.

Watercolor painting will be held at 10:30 a.m. Fridays through July 6. The cost of the six-week session is $25.

Beginner tai chi will be held at 1 p.m Thursdays through June 28. The cost of the eight-week session is $30.

Men’s fitness will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through July 26. The cost for the 10-week session is $40.

Yoga will be held at 9 a.m. Fridays through June 15. The cost for the 10-week session is $35.

Bingo will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Boards for the hourlong program are $1.

Mahjong will be held at 1 p.m. Fridays.

The meal calendar is as follows: June 11, pork stew; June 12, veal Parmesan; June 13, julienne salad; June 14, breaded chicken drumsticks.
