The selection committee, chaired by Joseph Wales of W.G. Arthur Co., chose the property because it has enhanced the business community and is an asset to Orchard Park, according to the chamber.

Cottrill’s is a licensed pharmacy that specializes in compounded medications for people and pets, home infusion and specialty medications.

Specialty pharmacies such as Cottrill’s provide medications and services to people who need complex or customized medications. They provide medications to people with serious health conditions including, but not limited to, bleeding disorders, immune deficiencies, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

Many of these medications need to be infused intravenously, so Cottrill’s also employs registered nurses who can infuse the medications in a patient’s home.

The building was originally owned by the Laks family, who lived in the house that was located on the property.

In the 1960s, the Kalinowski family bought the property and started Kelly’s TV and Appliances, which operated on the site for more than half a century.

Current owner and lifelong Orchard Park resident Dave Obrochta bought the building in 2013.

The pharmacy today is on the exact same footprint as the buildings before it. Everything was completely rebuilt except the concrete foundation and a cinder block wall. The house that was located on the property was razed in 2016.

Obrochta worked with another local business, Bammel Architects, to come up with a building that fits in with the community of Orchard Park. The goal was to design a modern office building and state-of-the-art pharmacy that had a residential feel.

According to the chamber, it applauds Cottrill’s Specialty Pharmacy for its significant commitment to the Orchard Park community.

Anyone who would like to nominate a business that has made improvements to its facility should submit the name to the chamber by calling 662-3366.

The next award will be presented in March.
