Networking meeting set for Dec. 14

Business Connections, the Orchard Park Chamber of Commerce’s networking group, will meet at 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, in the basement of the Municipal Center, 4295 S. Buffalo St. For more information, contact the Chamber office at 662-3366.

Chamber to host blood drive

Unyts will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Orchard Park Chamber of Commerce office, 6524 E. Quaker St. To schedule an appointment, call 662-3366.

Church to hold cookie sale

A Christmas cookie sale will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Orchard Park Community Church, 7451 Quaker Road. This annual event offers many homemade cookies and baked goods. Proceeds support the missions of the church.

Church to hold weekly gathering

Lifetree Cafe, a weekly hour long interactive experience that features stories of real people on film, guided conversation, biblical insights and time to build relationships, will be held at Windom Community Church, 3766 Abbott Road. The group meets from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday until Dec. 19. Lifetree will discuss family, friends, fears, busyness, money, materialism, health, heaven, peace and purpose. Historical Society to hold open house

The Orchard Park Historical Society will host a holiday open house from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Jolls House Museum, 4287 S. Buffalo St. Entertainment will include music by the students of harpist Cristin Kalinowski and string instructor Denise Uhlman. In addition, organist Richard Krentz will be on hand to play the Jolls pump organ, which he purchased at an auction and then donated to the Historical Soc iety. There will also be tours of the decorated Jolls House.

Breakfast with Santa slated for Dec. 9

The Byrd House restaurant will hold a breakfast with Santa from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the restaurant, 4190 N. Buffalo Road.

Senior group to see The Temptations

The Armor Seniors will take a trip to Seneca Niagara Casino on Tuesday, Dec. 12, to see The Temptations perform. The cost is $69 for lunch buffet, transportation and show, and $20 for slots. For more information, call Fran Ritz at 648-7526.

OP Symphony to hold holiday concert

The Orchard Park Symphony will hold its annual holiday concert from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Orchard Park High School, 4040 Baker Road. The 23 voices of the acclaimed Vocalis Chamber Choir will join the orchestra for all of the holiday favorites. Tickets for adults are $15; $10 for seniors 65 and older; and free for students with a student ID or accompanied by a ticket holder.

Drug awareness event to feature wrestler

The Business Men’s Fellowship Buffalo will present its annual drug awareness brunch from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 16, at L&M’s West End Inn, 340 Union St., Hamburg. Retired professional wrestler Lex Luger will discuss hitting rock bottom with drug and legal issues, a back injury and losing the love of his life and then rebuilding his life through faith and family. Zonta Club to wrap gifts at mall

The Zonta Club of Hamburg and Orchard Park will wrap gifts at McKinley Mall near Victoria’s Secret every day from Friday, Dec. 15, through Christmas Eve. Proceeds are used to fund scholarships and domestic violence awareness programs, including the Family Justice Center, Hamburg Domestic Violence Program and Kathleen Mary House.

Santa Land set for Dec. 9 and 10

The Orchard Park Recreation Department and the Erie County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department will present the annual Santa Land event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, and Sunday, Dec. 10, at Chestnut Ridge Park. The event will include hay rides to Santa, arts and crafts, face painting, marshmallow roasting and woodcutting. The last hay ride on each day is at 2:30.

Senior center looking for Asian mahjong

The Orchard Park Senior Center is trying to start an Asian mahjong group to meet at the center at 1 p.m. Mondays. The center is looking for players, and no experience is necessary. To sign up to play, call the center at 662-6452 or send an email to the center at opsenior@orchardparkny.org.
