Comptroller to speak on fraud protection

The Orchard Park Senior Center, 70 Linwood Ave., offers many programs for people older than 55 years. Contact the center at 662-6452 to register for programs. The Senior Center director is Debbie Santiago.

Weekly events include bridge at 12:30 p.m. Mondays; mind aerobics at 1 p.m. Mondays; bingo at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; popcorn and a movie at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; knitting at 1 p.m. Thursdays; and pinochle at 1 p.m. Fridays.

Holocaust survivor — At 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, Stephen Lewy, a Holocaust survivor, will speak about living in an orphanage in war-torn Germany as someone of Jewish descent. He will also discuss seeking refuge in France and then serving in the U.S. Army. Register in the office.

Fraud protection guide — At 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw will present his recently developed fraud protection guide, which includes a list of common scams in the area. Register in the office.

Beginner tai chi will be held at 1 p.m. Thursdays from now until Nov. 2. The cost of the eight-week session is $30.

Zumba will be held at 11 a.m. Thursdays from now until Nov. 2. The cost of the eight-week session is $30.

Tap dancing for fun will be held at 9:30 a.m. Mondays from now until Nov. 6. The cost of the eight-week class is $30.

Chair Yoga will be held at 10:45 a.m. Mondays from now until Nov. 13. The cost of the eight-week session is $30.

Men’s Fitness will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 17 until Dec. 12. The cost of the 10-week session is $40.

Spanish class will be held at 1 p.m. Mondays from now until Nov. 27. The 10-week course is $37.

Bingo will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Boards for the hourlong program are $1.

Mahjong will be held at 1 p.m. Fridays.

The meal calendar is as follows: Oct. 16, pork stew; Oct. 17, veal Parmesan; Oct. 18, breaded chicken drumsticks; Oct. 19, ham cassoulet.
