EA art gallery honors late art instructor in new exhibit

Meibohm Fine Arts, located at 478 Main St., East Aurora, will present a group art exhibition titled “Masters of Illusion – The Art of Trompe L’oeil: Take a Second Look.”

The exhibition will be on display starting Friday, Oct. 20, with an opening reception from 5 to 9 p.m.

The paintings in the exhibition are a tribute to the late art instructor John Yerger, as many of the 20 artists featured in the gallery worked under his guidance.

Meibohm said Yerger had “coaxed keen observation, attention to detail and stunning realism from his students, while encouraging original narratives from each. His legacy not only lives on but flourishes in these works on display – a fitting tribute to Mr. Yerger.”

Twenty Western New York artists will be featured in the exhibition who are continuing their studies under the direction of Joan Horn at Partners in Art in North Tonawanda.

The artists are: Sarita Kennedy Arden, M.K. Arundell, Lucette Banas, Louise Daoust, Karen Foegen, Leslie Fornalik, Elaine Grisanti, Pamela Henrich, Joan Horn, Maria Laurendi, Coni Minneci, Bruce Morrell, Susan Z. Ott, Laura Perillo, Michael Prezioso, Joanna Ransom, Inge Riches, Joan Langley Shaw, Kathy Weber and Judy Winklhofer.

Meibohm Fine Arts Gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, visit meibohmfinearts.com.
