Sign-ups sought for Hawaiian Luau

The Orchard Park Senior Center, 70 Linwood Ave., offers many programs for people older than 55 years. Contact the center at 662-6452 to register for programs. The Senior Center director is Debbie Santiago.

Weekly events include bridge at 12:30 p.m. Mondays; mind aerobics at 1 p.m. Mondays; bingo at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; popcorn and a movie at 1 p.m. Wednesdays; knitting at 1 p.m. Thursdays; and pinochle at 1 p.m. Fridays.

Shipwrecks of Lake Erie — At 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, Carol Rogers, from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, will give a presentation on the maritime history beneath the surface of Lake Erie.

Hawaiian Luau — At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, bring your Hawaiian clothing for a luau. Dinner will be served. Entertainment will be provided by Lyle Stang. Prizes will be awarded for the best Hawaiian wear outfit. The cost is $10.

Advanced tai chi at Brush Mountain Park will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesdays from now through Aug. 30. The cost of the eight-week session is $30.

Ladies exercise program will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from now to Sept. 1. The cost of the eight-week session is $30.

Spanish refresher course will be held at 1 p.m. Mondays from now until Aug. 28. The cost of the course is $26.

Mahjong will be held at 1 p.m. Fridays. The meal calendar is as follows: Aug. 14, barbecued pulled pork; Aug. 15, meatballs; Aug. 16, breaded chicken breast; Aug. 17, meatloaf.
