Orchard Park Pride seeking sponsors for annual event
Orchard Park Pride organizers are looking for sponsors for students at its 25th annual dinner.
Orchard Park Pride is an award given each year to exceptional students in the senior class, and a dinner is held in their honor. This year, 41 students will be honored. Sponsors are paired with students at the dinner.
The dinner will be held from 6:15 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Orchard Park High School, 4040 Baker Road, in the cafeteria. The event will be catered by BW’s Smokin Barrels Barbecue.
Amy See, the coordinator of the event and a counselor at the high school, said nearly 800 sponsorship letters were recently sent to local businesses. It costs $120 to sponsor a student, which covers the cost of dinner for the sponsor, the student and the student’s parents.
The Pride Award highlights more than just good academics, says See. It’s for students who show outstanding work through volunteer efforts in the community, character and work ethic. Orchard Park is among the few high schools in the area that hold such an event, says See.
Sponsors are paired with students based on mutual interests. Through building ties with community leaders, See hopes students will one day establish connections in Orchard Park.
“It’s all about bringing Orchard Park’s most talented students back to Orchard Park after college,” she said. “The kids look forward to it. It’s something I think everyone values.”
If sponsors respond by March 5, they will have their names appear in the school program and on press releases. Sponsors will also be provided with biographical information on their student one month prior to the dinner.
