Man caught trying to steal underwear
Monday, Jan. 23
A manager at the Armor Heights Apartments reported that someone struck a light pole with a car, causing an estimated $1,500 in damage.
Tuesday, Jan. 24
An Orchard Park man reported paying a Grand Island man $3,000 and signing a contract with him to do roofing work. The man never showed to do the work. The police have five other cases on the same Grand Island man allegedly duping other people. A warrant was issued for his arrest. Police will charge him with larceny and scheme to defraud.
Thursday, Jan. 26
Kohl’s department store on Amelia Drive reported that a man tried to leave the store with two packages of Jockey underwear worth $54. The Hamburg man, 25, was charged with petit larceny.
An Orchard Park woman reported that between 3 and 6 a.m. she received 27 obscene text messages and two phone calls from a man she had told not to contact her anymore. She filed charges for aggravated harassment.
The Harvest Hill Golf Course reported a man using vulgar language, disobeying rules at the course and being abusive toward the staff. He called the course one time and made threatening remarks. The manager gave the man a full refund and told him he was no longer welcome there.
Colonial Wine & Spirits, 3211 Southwestern Blvd., reported that a man walked into the store on Jan. 23 and put a bottle of Knob Creek Whiskey into his jacket before walking out of the store.
Friday, Jan. 27
An Orchard Park man reported several items missing that were stashed in an unlocked locker at the Buffalo Athletic Club on Union Road. He lost his cash, license and passport.
An Orchard Park person reported finding a wallet at Royal Hill Drive and Michael Road. Three hours later, a Buffalo man came to the police station to retrieve his lost wallet.
Saturday, Jan. 28
The owner of Touch Boutique, 3215 Southwestern Blvd., called police to report that a female stole several items of clothing with an estimated value of $1,126. Police have a suspect that was identified through security cameras. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
A Hamburg woman reported that while she was at the South Towns Tennis Club she lost her wedding band and engagement ring, items worth $7,800.
Sunday, Jan. 29
A Middlebury Road man reported unauthorized charges totaling $217 on his credit card account. It was used in local stores. Police are investigating.
