ECC announces annual award recipients
Erie Community College — which has a campus on Southwestern Boulevard in Orchard Park — recently announced its chair and award recipients for its upcoming Celebrate ECC event.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 1, inside the college’s city campus atrium.
Althea E. Luehrsen, executive director of Leadership Buffalo, was appointed chairwoman of Celebrate ECC, which is an evening celebrating ECC’s alumni and community leaders.
Luehrsen is an ECC graduate and was named a distinguished alumna in 2009. She serves on the ECC Foundation Board of Directors.
“Erie Community College is a tremendous asset to Western New York,” she said.
On Jan. 26, Luehrsen joined ECC officials to announce their upcoming event winners at a preliminary cocktail reception inside The Mansion on Delaware Avenue.
At the event, Alphonso O’Neil-White won the community impact award; Robert M. Bennett, the trustees’ award; Keller Technology Corporation, the president’s award; Cynthia Schwartz, the foundation award; Carla Beneduce, the distinguished alumni faculty award; Lynda K. Stephens, the honorary alumni award; and Stanley J. Blas, Timothy M. Creenan, the Rev. George DuBois, Mary Jo Monnin, Jennifer L. Schlifke Pronobis and Gerard F. Sheldon, the distinguished alumni award.
