Book Club reads ‘The Once and Future King’

The Orchard Park Senior Center, 70 Linwood Ave., offers many programs for people more than 55 years old. Contact the center at 662-6452 to register for programs. The Senior Center director is Anna Willems.

Watercolor painting classes will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. They began Jan. 6 and will run until Feb. 10. Cost is $25, and beginners are welcome.

Acrylic painting classes will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. They began Jan. 4 and will run until Feb. 8. The six-week course costs $25.

Zumba classes will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays. They began Jan. 5 and will run to Feb. 23. Cost for the eight-week program is $20.

Geriatric massages will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 2, and at the same time on Thursday, Feb. 16. The 15-minute chair massage is $10. Call 662-6452 to make an appointment.

Nutrition counseling will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Feb. 15. A dietician consultant will be present to answer any questions.

Men’s fitness classes will be offered from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They began Jan. 3 and will end on March 8. Cost for the 10-week program is $30.

Tap dancing classes will be offered on Mondays. They began Jan. 9 and will run until March 26. From 9 to 10 a.m., they will be the intermediate classes and from 10 to 11 a.m., the beginner. This 10-week tap dancing class is $20. Intermediate/advanced classes will be offered at 10:15 on Thursdays. They began Jan. 5 and will run until March 22. Cost is $35.

Tai Chi beginner/intermediate will be offered at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesdays. It began on Jan. 4 and will end Feb. 22. Cost is $30.

Chair Exercises will be offered at 11 a.m. on Mondays and at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. It began Jan. 4 and will end on March 7. This 10-week program costs $50.

Yoga classes will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. They began on Jan. 4 and will end on March 7. They will also be offered from 9 to 10 a.m. on Fridays from Jan. 6 through March 9.

Spanish classes will be offered from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays. They began on Jan. 17 and will run to March 6. The eight-week course costs $10. Ketty Sheff, a native of Colombia, will be teaching the course.

Book Club: The Book Club will be reading “The Once and Future King” by author T. H. White for its February book. The Book Group meets at 10 a.m. the last Wednesday of every month. The books are available in the office.

The Senior Center will now be offering personalized computer classes taught by Robert Pope, an Erie Community College professor. In a new format, the students will come up with the teaching session topics. Classes are limited to two people. To make an appointment with Pope, call the center at 662-6452.
