Thief snatches glass pipes
Monday, Jan. 16
A Cynthia Circle woman, 44, reported a fraudulent transaction on her VISA credit card totaling $179.70. It was an unknown purchase and shipped out of state.
A 29-year-old Windom Avenue man was charged with criminal mischief after breaking the driver’s side window of his girlfriend’s vehicle. It occurred when the victim was trying to drive away from her home.
Tuesday, Jan. 17
A 73-year-old Briar Hill Road man reported that someone struck his mailbox. The damage appears to have been done by a baseball bat.
A 58-year-old woman who lives in The Hammocks apartments said she believed someone hacked into her computer after she joined an online dating service. She called her bank and had it freeze her accounts. However, she told police she has no evidence for the supposed hacking. Wednesday, Jan. 18
Stadium Mobil on Southwestern Boulevard reported that someone tried to steal three glass pipes that were behind the counter. The employee heard the glass clanking in the would-be thief’s pocket and confronted him. The 21-year-old Orchard Park resident then turned the pipes over.
A 32-year-old man from Glenwood, N.Y., reported that his car was on fire while driving on Milestrip Road. The driver behind him notified him of the flames. The vehicle was lost to the fire, with an estimated $18,000 in damage. It is unknown how the fire started.
Thursday, Jan. 19
A Gartman Road man, 48, reported finding that his mailbox and post had been knocked into a ditch overnight.
A 37-year-old Springville woman was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, imprudent speed, criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance not in its original container after her vehicle slid into a ditch on Route 219. The vehicle was towed and the woman returned to the police station.
Friday, Jan. 20
An unknown person cut the Orchard Park sign at the northwest corner of Jewett Holmwood Road and Transit Road.
A stop sign at Errington Terrace and Webster Road was knocked over. Police suspect a vehicle slid off the road and struck the sign and post.
A 48-year-old woman returning to her vehicle parked in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods on Amelia Drive reported finding damage to the lower left side of the vehicle. The damage is estimated to be less than $1,000. It appears that the vehicle parked next to the woman’s slid into hers. A witness provided police with information on the vehicle. The West Seneca man was visited at his home by police and given a traffic ticket for leaving the scene of an accident.
Stryker Medical Corp. reported that someone stole, among other items, a cordless drill in a case and a microscope, items estimated to be worth $2,000.
