Elderly man charged for letting unlicensed grandson drive

Monday, April 19

• A 91-year-old Orchard Park man is facing a facilitating aggravated unlicensed operation charge after officers said he allowed his grandson to drive his vehicle, knowing that the grandson’s license had recently been revoked.

Tuesday, April 20

• Police are continuing to investigate after an Orchard Park man reported several items, including batteries and a radiator, stolen from the backyard.

• A 20-year-old female was charged with disorderly conduct on Southwestern Boulevard for using obscene language in a parking lot.

• While using the license plate reader on East Quaker Street, police charged an 18-year-old South Wales female with driving with suspended license plates and no insurance.

Wednesday, April 21

• An Eden woman called police after her vehicle caught fire on Route 219 near the Route 20A exit. She exited at Route 20A, and the Orchard Park Fire Company helped extinguish the blaze.

Thursday, April 22

• After a 17-year-old Orchard Park male purchased beer from a South Buffalo Street business using an altered identification card, he was observed putting the beer into a vehicle driven by another 17-year-old Orchard Park male. Both were charged with possession of alcohol by a person under age 21, while the person who made the purchase was also charged with possession of an altered license.

• An 18-year-old West Seneca female was charged with driving with suspended license plates, no insurance and no driver’s license at Orchard Park Road and Lake Avenue.

Friday, April 23

• A 50-year-old Lackawanna man was charged with stealing hot dogs and pills from a store on Southwestern Boulevard.

Saturday, April 24

• Speeding and driving while intoxicated charges were levied against a 30-year-old Orchard Park man at Breem and Webster roads.

• An Orchard Park woman asked police to help investigate after she claims that a company she has been selling travel packages for has not paid her in a while. She told officers she is due more than $15,000 in commissions.

• A 45-year-old Hamburg man was charged with improper plates and an unregistered motor vehicle after a work vehicle he was driving had license plates that were reported as “lost or stolen” on them. Police said the report was filed by the Buffalo company he works for on Jan. 7. Officers said it appears the business may have later found the license plates but never reported to police they found them.

• Two Orchard Park youths will be sent to Youth Court to face charges after police said they damaged Lake Avenue mailboxes.

• A 25-year-old Lakeview man was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, speeding and driving without a license on Southwestern Boulevard.

Sunday, April 25

• Police charged a 38-year-old Derby woman with driving with suspended license plates and no insurance.
