It’s rare enough to see the Orchard Park boys lacrosse team lose just one game. It’s almost unthinkable to picture them losing two in a row.

The Orchard Park Lady Quakers felt they were close to putting everything together early in the season. Orchard Park played well throughout April, but couldn’t quite get over the hump in suffering close losses to Clarence, Frontier, Lancaster and Immaculata.

Lady Quakers finish regular season

The Orchard Park Lady Quakers girls lacrosse team concluded the 2012 regular season with a 12-3 loss at Frontier on Tuesday afternoon.

Orchard Park fell behind Frontier early and was never able to recover as the Lady Falcons stormed out to an 8-1 lead at halftime. Maddie Nowakowski was one of the lone bright spots for Orchard Park as she had two goals.

Medaille to host Friday Night Hoops

Medaille College men’s basketball coach Mike MacDonald will host Friday Night Hoops at the Sullivan Center on the Medaille campus. Friday Night Hoops is a camp for boys entering grades 9 to 12 that will run every Friday night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. from June 1 through August 10.

Bruno, Dina take third at ECIC doubles championship

It was not the best weekend for Orchard Park’s top doubles team at the ECIC Championships Saturday at Sweet Home, but the duo of August Bruno and Sawyer Dina will still be moving on to next week’s Section VI championships.

Registration is open for Hot Shots Girls Lacrosse Day Camp, to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, July 16 to Thursday, July 19 at Amherst High School’s athletic field on Westmoreland Drive in Amherst. Under the direction of Janet Battaglia, the camp is open to girls ages 4-18 regardless of ability or experience.
